sagu

sagu is a recipe for the combination of chapati or puri. I would like to relish the taste of sagu with hot puri.
Sagu is prepared with aloo and besan flour. A different combination to fulfill the taste buds.

Ingrediants:

  • 4 medium size potatoes boiled,peeled,slightly mashed
  • 1small cup besan flour
  • 2medium size onions long sliced
  • 4 green chillies
  • 1tsp mustard seeds
  • 1tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 bunch curry leaves
  • 3tsp oil
  • pinch turmeric
  • salt to taste

Preparation:

  1. Mix besan flour with 2cups of water without any lumps.put it aside
  2. Pour oil in a pan,add mustard, cumin seeds, onion slices, green chilli pieces, curry leaves.saute it well.when onions turn golden brown colour ,add slightly mashed pototoes add salt fry for a minute.
  3. add the besan flour batter cook for 5-10min. when raw smell of the besan goes out and forms like slightly thick soup, switch off the flame and serve hot with puri or chapati.
  4. You can garnish the recipe with chopped coriander leaves.

'Sagu' should be a perfect alternative for 'smashed & fried' potato, which we usually use as a side dish for puri/chappati....
your dish makes me salivate & wish u a happy & prosperous Diwali!!!
